| Luke 3:23 (American Standard
Version) And Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty
years of age, being the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,
Matthew 1:16 (American Standard Version) and Jacob begat Joseph the
husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
Jesus, Fathers Father
It's hard to imagine witnessing a problem like this in the New Testament
or the Holy Bible for that matter, but what do you do when you run
across something like this. Two different names for the same grandfather
of Jesus.
Someone on Facebook tried to convince me that Heli was the father of
Mary, Jesus' mother, but the literal interpretation is clear. I could
accept this theory, if one of these Bible verses said that Heli was the
father of Mary, but it doesn't.
On your journey towards the truth, you're going to run into plenty of
obstacles, one of them will be deception, even from people with good
intentions. Don't believe everything that you read, hear or watch as the
truth.
Do some research on your own to verify things you believe in and if
someone is presenting you with their own Bible verse interpretations,
ask them, in a considerate way, if they could provide you with any
evidence, otherwise you'll need to do your own research.
In time you will develop reliable sources, but until then, assume that
everyone is just providing you with information, until it's validated.
