| Genesis 22:17 (American Standard
Version) that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will
multiply thy seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is
upon the seashore. And thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.
Deuteronomy 20:14 (American Standard Version) but the women, and the
little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the
spoil thereof, shalt thou take for a prey unto thyself; and thou shalt
eat the spoil of thine enemies, which Jehovah thy God hath given thee.
Luke 6:35 (American Standard Version) But love your enemies, and do them
good, and lend, never despairing; and your reward shall be great, and ye
shall be sons of the Most High: for he is kind toward the unthankful and
evil.
According to some Bible verses in the Old Testament, Jehovah persecutes,
kills and even takes things from his enemies. The God of the Old
Testament is cruel and his wrath is unimaginable, especially towards his
enemies.
Were talking about a God who killed everyone with a great flood. He even
persecutes his faithful followers like Job.
Deuteronomy 20:14 makes it sound like it's your obligation to take
women, children (little ones) and the rest of their possessions,
including their cattle. In other words, to the victor goes the spoils
and thoughts like these actually encourage war and other human
atrocities.
Like most of the Bible, once we get out of the Old Testament and into
the New Testament, Jesus tells his followers to love their enemies. Yes,
it's confusing and the next time someone tells you that there aren't any
errors in the Bible, point these particular Bible verses out to them and
see what they say.
