| Numbers 35:19 (American Standard
Version) The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death:
when he meeteth him, he shall put him to death.
Leviticus 19:18 (American Standard Version) Thou
shalt not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children
of thy people; but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am
Jehovah.
Who Kills the Murderer?
Obviously Numbers 35:19 is crystal clear and we can interpret it
literally. Whoever the avenger is, must kill the murderer. This Bible
verse is easy to understand, except for the problems we have with the
next one.
If the avenger is suppose to kill the murderer, but shall not take
vengeance and is suppose to love thy neighbor, it gets a little
confusing. The last thing a follower of Jehovah would want to do, is
make him mad.
A mad Jehovah could kill people, but seems to have a difficult time
feeding them, otherwise we wouldn't have world starvation.
Could you imagine going up to heaven, after murdering someone who
murdered your daughter, only to find out that Leviticus 19:18 takes
precedence over the situation and you're now going to be thrown into the
burning like sulfur?
Confused yet, need to and I got some bad news, it doesn't get any
better.
