It's hard to argue with facts, like these.

Humans can drink water.

People kill other people.

Christians kill Muslims.

Muslims kill Christians.

“Thou Shall Not Kill.”

Each one of these items listed above are facts, but they can be twisted, manipulated and used to create someone else's truth. Religious leaders have been doing things like these for years and will continue to do so, until someone decides to call them out.

And that's what I'm doing, challenging every Christian leader, to provide me with a realistic explanation, of these four words.

What does,” Thou shall not kill” mean to them?

You really wouldn't believe all of the strange things I've heard, from Christians and other religious followers. Here's just a couple.

Christians are allowed to kill under certain conditions.

Christians are allowed to kill for food.

Christians aren't allowed to kill for food.

Christians are allowed to defend themselves and if someone gets killed, then they were killed, for a reason.

If a Christian is killed, another Christian is allowed to kill the murderer.

My favorite though, if someone is killed, God has a reason, but only God has the ability to understand why and doesn't want to share it with anyone.

I could go on and on, but the point is simple. Thou shall not kill, implies to everything, without any exceptions, otherwise the exceptions would've been listed.

Or should I say that these exceptions should have been listed.

It's hard for me to imagine anyone of the United States lawmakers, who would put themselves, in the same class as God or the most intelligent being, in the universe. If God created everything in the universe, then he should have enough sense (smarts, intelligence) to produce at least one book of rules, without any contradictions.

The United States lawmakers have provided its citizens or followers with specific rules (laws) that either do or do not have exceptions. If you kill someone, without a valid reason, there's a good chance that you're going to jail.

However, if you kill someone while they were attacking you, during the middle of a battle, between a verified enemy of the United States government and you're an enlisted military soldier, they shouldn't have a problem.

If there is a problem, it will be put in front of numerous people, until this problem can be validated. The United States government has set up a legal system, to provide justice or at least a satisfactory form of justice, for their citizens.

Could you imagine a law in the United States that stated clearly, without any exceptions, that thou shall not murder?

Only with exceptions, would you be allowed to murder someone and if the law stated that there were exceptions and that you weren't allowed to murder anything, it should be simple and easy to follow.

You wouldn't be allowed to kill insects, animals, creatures, reptiles, fish, birds, pets, plants or people. You wouldn't be allowed to raise them for food or eat them, unless they died of natural causes or unless someone else killed them.

This is where it gets kind of confusing. Let's say that once a week, the government hired one person to kill all of the animals they needed for food.

This individual would have surely broken their rules and would need to be placed in prison, but wouldn't be allowed to be killed. Sounds simple, the law is crystal clear and when broken, the criminal, would need to be persecuted.

With a clever lawyer, this individual might be set free, even though he clearly, broke the law.

Stay with me and pay attention.

The meaning is simple and can be translated literally.

Thou shall not kill = don't kill anything.

That's not fair, because this Bible verse can be interpreted figuratively. If this is true, then can the entire Bible be interpreted figuratively and can you provide evidence to support your claims?

You can't just pick and choose, which Bible verses mean what, with out any type of satisfactory scientific evidence, to support any claims that you would make about this particular interpretation..

Could you imagine reading information that was relevant to your lifestyle and then have someone provide you with its meaning for?

Thou shall not kill means that you can't kill anything, but if someone's attacking you, you can kill them.

That's a contradicting statement.

However, I could state it differently and if I was smart enough,(like God, the creator of everything and Mr. omnipotent) I could rearrange the words to provide you with a statement that could be interpreted literally, therefore classify as a law or rule.

The only exception to killing anyone would be, if you were attacked.

This means that I am not allowed to kill anyone, unless they're attacking me. This statement could also create other problems, but can be clearly interpreted.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that people can twist and manipulate practically everything, to meet their needs. People have been doing this for centuries and Christianity provides us with an excellent example.

I couldn't imagine having a book about contradictions, without providing you with a definition.

Contradiction - An illogical or inconsistent statement that opposes or disagrees with somebody or something.

The first 22 Bible verses provides us with supporting verses, to the statement,” Thou shall not murder.”

The rest of the book provides us with contradictions, until we get towards the end of the book. This is when I will provide you with a different perspective and ideas that are difficult for Christians to accept, comprehend and understand.

Best wishes to everyone, Greg Vanden Berge
